Electrical Engineer
Keep critical power running at a major new AI-ready data centre in Batam. Hands-on electrical engineering role with real ownership and scope
Our client is a privately owned, internationally operating digital infrastructure company building and running data centre and connectivity assets across high-growth markets. They are commissioning a major new AI-ready data centre campus in Batam, Indonesia, and are looking for an Electrical Engineer to join the Data Centre team, reporting to the Campus Critical Facilities Manager.
This is a core technical role at the heart of facility operations. You'll be responsible for keeping critical electrical systems reliable, safe and continuously available — managing day-to-day operations, executing maintenance strategies, and driving improvements across the electrical infrastructure that keeps the site running.
What the role involves:
You'll manage the operation, maintenance and reliability of critical power infrastructure — UPS systems, generators, switchgear and power distribution — and make sure it stays available around the clock. You'll execute preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance, troubleshoot faults, and lead root cause analysis to resolve issues quickly. You'll also play a key part in commissioning and operational readiness as new infrastructure comes online.
This is a hands-on role that combines engineering expertise with risk management and compliance. You'll work alongside cross-functional teams and coordinate vendors and contractors, all while keeping the site running with minimal operational impact.
Key responsibilities
Managing the operation, maintenance and reliability of critical electrical infrastructure including UPS, generators, switchgear and power distribution
Executing preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance to maximise equipment availability and uptime
Troubleshooting electrical faults, performing root cause analysis and driving timely resolution
Developing and reviewing MOPs, SOPs, EOPs, maintenance reports and technical documentation
Ensuring compliance with electrical safety standards, PTW requirements, regulatory obligations and industry best practice
Coordinating maintenance, upgrades and project activities with vendors and contractors
Supporting commissioning, testing and operational readiness for new installations and upgrades
Monitoring system performance, identifying risks and implementing reliability and efficiency improvements
Maintaining accurate technical documentation, maintenance records and asset information
What we're looking for:
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering
Strong track record across data centres, critical facilities, industrial plants or mission-critical environments
Strong technical knowledge of electrical distribution systems, UPS, generators, switchgear and critical power infrastructure
Proven experience in troubleshooting and electrical system reliability management
Familiarity with electrical safety regulations, risk assessments, PTW and LOTO processes
Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making capabilities
Proficient in written and spoken English
Projects of this scale don't come along often. If you've got the critical-power background and want to help bring a major AI-ready data centre to life from the ground up, reach out to us for a confidential conversation.
